Holy Cross Feast Day 2023
Dear friends and supporters,
We are extremely grateful for the participation and unwavering support of our growing community as we celebrated the Holy Cross Monastery Feast Day, on Saturday, September 16th in Pleasant Mount, Pennsylvania.
Theotokos Kardiotissa (“The Tender Heart”)
The day started with the arrival of the Myrrh-Streaming Icon of Theotokos Kardiotissa (“The Tender Heart”). The Holy Liturgy was followed by the blessing of the water and of the grounds of our Church and Chapel and was officiated by a council of priests, including Fr. Ioan Proteasa, Fr. Florin Spânu, Fr. Vasile Ivan, Fr. Mircea Schirta, Fr. Daniel Bălan and Brother Clement.
Picnic
Our community was blessed with great weather and, while the kids explored the surrounding forest and peaceful streams of water on the monastery grounds, we enjoyed a culinary feast in the form of a picnic with home made traditional food such as mici, cârnați, sarmale, plăcintă and plenty of pălincă donated by our community.
Thank you for being a part of this special day and for sharing the vision of establishing a monastic community and raising an Orthodox Monastery within driving distance of the New York metropolitan area. We look forward to continuing to work together.
